SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Field Trip Factory, the nation's leading provider of hands-on, immersion learning experiences, hosted its second annual Dietitian Summit in conjunction with National Nutrition Month. The only forum of its kind, the primary goal of this gathering of leading experts was to help the food industry better support consumer health where it matters most, in the aisles of the nation's grocery stores.
The two-day event, held March 10-12, at Hotel Valley Ho here, included leading nutrition, supermarket and food industry experts from around the United States, such as Ahold, Supervalu, Delhaize, H.E. Butt Grocery, Bashas' Supermarkets, Kellogg's, General Mills, Frito-Lay, PepsiCo, DelMonte and more.
“We have long believed that education is imperative to the success or failure of any movement, and reaching the next generation of healthy eaters will be critical,” said Susan Singer, president and founder of Field Trip Factory, prior to the event. “By bringing together some of the most influential minds in the industry in an environment that truly fosters trust and an open exchange of ideas, we will move the whole discussion of nutrition forward – and that's good for everyone.”
“There is such a lot of information out there, much of it from food manufacturers who have their own dietitians, and also from supermarket dietitians,” Barbara Ruhs, Bashas’ corporate registered dietitian, told SN. “It’s important that we share what we know. We need to develop relationships with our vendors and everyone we can. Working together, we have the potential to influence the health of our whole nation.”
