ST. LOUIS — Schnuck Markets will host Frieda¹s Produce University at all its locations on Saturday, Jan. 24, putting a focus on exotic fruits, vegetables and other ingredients commonly used in Chinese New Year¹s feasts.
The Chinese New Year begins Jan. 26, setting off a 15-day celebration.
The day-long open house at Schnuck stores aims to acquaint customers with a variety of Asian specialties. Customers will taste items and be encouraged to ask questions. Festive citrus fruits such as oroblancos, kumquats and pummelos will be featured as well as fresh snow peas, sugar snap peas, baby bok choy, and other, less familiar items.
"We are pleased to continue offering these educational programs, and Chinese New Year is the perfect food-focused occasion for learning about the great variety of fresh Asian specialties," said Mike O'Brien, vice president of produce at Schnucks.
Frieda's Inc., a leading marketer and distributor of specialty produce, offers more than 600 specialty items to grocery stores and foodservice distributors.
