H-E-B Kicks Up Spurs Campaign

SAN ANTONIO — H-E-B [2]’s new shaving cream is so powerful that it enabled Tony Parker to lift a car with one hand to retrieve his basketball.

That’s one of the scenes from “The M1 Effect,” a commercial featuring the San Antonio Spurs player promoting M1, H-E-B’s line of men’s grooming products. Along with shaving cream, the line includes a body bar, body wash and face scrub.

The M1 Effect is one of three H-E-B commercials featuring Parker and Spurs players Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili.  There’s also a spot for H-E-B’s “Prime 1” steaks, and another for “That Green Sauce,” a salsa-type dressing.

Viewers can vote on their favorite at heb.com/spurs. The spot with the most votes so far is “The List,” featuring Parker guarding the door to a cookout featuring H-E-B’s “Prime 1” steaks. Duncan and Ginobili arrive at the cookout, only to be told by Parker that they aren’t on the guest list and should “stay behind the line.” Parker then allows Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich to bypass Duncan and Ginobili, and enter the event.

The commercials are the latest part of a growing relationship between the Spurs and H-E-B.  Spurs.com features a healthy living page that includes  H-E-B recipes. H-E-B has also sponsored Tony Parker basketball clinics.
