Weis VP Garisto Dies at 45

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Services will be held here this week for Bruno Garisto (pictured below), Weis Markets [1]’ vice president of center store merchandising and sales, who passed away unexpectedly Aug. 10 at age 45.
“Words cannot begin to describe our sadness and shock at Bruno’s passing,” said Kurt Schertle, executive vice president for Weis Markets. “Bruno was a good friend and a gifted professional who will be missed by many. He was devoted to his wife Carolyn and his children, Nick and Katie. They have our deepest sympathies.”

During his career in the food industry, Garisto worked in supply chain management, merchandising, marketing, procurement and sales. He joined Weis in 2004 as director of Center Store sales and subsequently worked as director of private brands. Earlier in his career, he worked for Ahold Indonesia, Ahold USA, Giant Food Stores, Daymon Worldwide and Hillandale Farms. A native of Harrisburg, Pa., Garisto earned a degree in food marketing from St. Joseph’s University, and an MBA from Bucknell University.
