JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Winn-Dixie Stores here is making sure it has produce favorites for all the major holidays during this time of year, including Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.
“Whether celebrating Hanukkah, Christmas or Kwanzaa, our shoppers will find fresh and local products this holiday season by visiting their neighborhood Winn-Dixie,” Joshua Whitton, spokesman for the chain, told SN. He said that popular items include green beans, potatoes and onions, as well as a variety of fresh fruit, including clementines, cherries and red seedless grapes.
“Customers can purchase all of their holiday favorites in our stores,” he added.
For example, the retailer has stocked up on Kwanzaa favorites like bananas, mangoes, plantains, oranges, wine and corn at all 521 stores throughout the Southeast. The weekly store circular also includes promotions on potatoes, a basic ingredient to make potato latkes, a Hanukkah staple. The circular even includes a recipe for sweet potato latkes. Some items — such as boxed clementines — also make a popular gift, and are brought to many parties instead of wine or cheese.
“All three holidays share a common theme — celebrating with family and loved ones,” said Robin Miller, communications director for Winn-Dixie, in a company release. “We want to help families continue these traditions and start new ones by having these items available for a joyous holiday — no matter which one is being celebrated.”
