Officials Approve 2nd Ill. Site for Heinen’s

WARRENVILLE HEIGHTS, Ohio — Officials in Glenview, Ill., have voted to approve a proposed ground lease that would allow Heinen’s to build a new grocery store there.

The store, tentatively slated to open in 2014, would be Heinen’s second in Illinois. The company expanded to Illinios for the first time earlier this year with a store in Barrington, Ill., also a Chicago suburb.

According to city officials in Glenview, Heinen’s would build a new store at the site of a former Dominick’s store that closed in 2007. The 35,000-square-foot store would represent a $10 million to $12 million investment.

Heinen’s officials were not immediately available for comment.
