Piggly Wiggly in Union Tiff to Close: Report

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. — Piggly Wiggly Midwest [3] here told state labor authorities this week that it would close a store at the center of a dispute with its union workers.

As reported previously in SN, the Piggly Wiggly store last month was ordered by the National Labor Relations Board to restore the status of workers whose hours were cut last year while the union representing them and Piggly Wiggly settled a dispute over whether the retailer had the authority to make those changes.

The company this week told state authorities that the store would close in September, affecting 100 jobs, The Sheboygan Press said.
