SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Stater Bros. Markets here and Procter & Gamble have teamed up to donate a new Stater Bros. Activity Center at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital. The room, which had previously been used as a conference room, was renovated at a cost of $300,000 and turned into a movie theater. Money for the renovation was raised through in-store promotions at Stater's 164 stores, the company said. "This theater will bring the magic of movies to hospital-bound children and help them escape to a happier place," Jack Brown, chairman and chief executive officer, said. Stater Bros. has been a financial supporter of the hospital for several years, having helped to raise $2 million through a variety of fund-raising campaigns, the chain noted.
