Texas UFCW Locals to Terminate Extensions With Kroger

In a move to accelerate negotiations with Kroger Co., Kroger workers represented by United Food and Commercial Workers Local 455 in Houston said they would no longer extend their contract with the Cincinnati-based retailer.

HOUSTON — In a move to accelerate negotiations with Kroger Co., Kroger workers represented by United Food and Commercial Workers Local 455 here said they would no longer extend their contract with the Cincinnati-based retailer. Kroger and Local 455 have been negotiating for a new contract to replace a deal that expired March 31. UFCW Local 408, also based here, has already said it would no longer accept extensions. Both locals have already voted to approve a strike. UFCW 540, based in Dallas, has also voted authorize a strike.
