ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Harris Teeter, Meijer and Price Chopper will once again help to raise money for breast cancer research and treatments with the Pink Ribbon Produce program by donating proceeds from specially marked items to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Starting Oct. 7, more than 500 stores will direct shoppers to products from participating produce suppliers, which this year include Country Fresh, Del Monte Fresh Produce and the Dole Food Company, using Pink Ribbon Produce posters and point-of-sale signs.

Customers can also make a donation by texting “Pink HT” for Harris Teeter, “PINK M” for Meijer or “Pink PC” for Price Chopper to 80077.

“Pink Ribbon Produce brings together grocery retailers, produce partners and consumers to support a cause that directly impacts one in eight women across the United States,” Debbie Augustine, chief executive officer of AugustineIdeas, the advertising and public relations company that manages Pink Ribbon Produce, said in a statement. “This program gives everyone a tangible way to make a difference, while helping to fund treatments and research for a cure.”

This is the seventh year the three retailers have run the Pink Ribbon Produce program, which coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
