Ahold Mulls Sale of ICA Stake

AMSTERDAM — Ahold here said Tuesday it would explore “strategic options” for its 60% stake in Swedish retailer ICA, including a possible initial public offering.

Ahold, which owns the Stop & Shop, Giant-Landover and Giant-Carlisle banners in the U.S., said it wants to focus its growth strategies on the businesses it controls. Ahold and Hakon Invest AB of Sweden jointly share controlling interest in ICA,
