BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Belle Foods is highlighting healthy attributes with a new color-coded shelf-labeling system.
“Simply Healthy” labels indicate up to four different healthy characteristics such as gluten-free, sugar-free, heart-healthy, all-natural and low carbs. Each attribute is assigned a unique color that will allow customers to glance at a tag and know if the product is a healthy choice.
The family-owned chain introduced the tags in two remodeled stores earlier this month. During the next several months, it will roll out the tags to all 57 locations.

“We want to make healthy shopping easier for our customers,” said Bill White, president and chief executive officer of Belle Foods, in a statement. “Customers will no longer have to spend valuable time reading the back of a label to determine if a product is safe for their family.”
