NEW YORK — Foodcellar & Co., an upscale supermarket in the Long Island City area of Queens, is reportedly eyeing a second site, also in Long Island City.
According to the LIC Post, Foodcellar is negotiating a lease for a 24,000-square-foot, two-story store in a new luxury residential tower called Linc LIC in the central area of the town. The 709-unit develoment is scheduled to open this summer.
The first Foocellar & Co. location, which opened in 2008 on the Long Island City waterfront, emphasizes natural and organic product, as well as conventional groceries, and features a broad assortment of prepared foods and a dine-in café.
A spokesperson for the company could not be reached for comment on the report, which quoted the co-owner of Foodcellar & Co. as saying a lease for the second location “probably won’t be done for a couple of weeks.”
