EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market here said Wednesday it has re-branded its Fresh & Easy line of prepared meals under the name "Kitchen To Go" and introduced more than 150 new chef-created meals, including American, Italian, Asian and Mexican selections priced from $1.99 to $9.99.
"These kinds of prepared meals have always been very popular," Brendan Wonnacott, a chain spokesman, told SN, "but we wanted to make it clear that the items are the kinds of meals you could prepare in your own kitchen and that we have them available on a grab-and-go basis."
The items are displayed on the back wall of all stores, with prepared-meal bowls and appetizers on upper shelves, side dishes in the middle and entrees on the bottom shelves. In addition to the four cuisines, there is also a section decicated to the company's "Eat Well" products, which contain 25% or less of the daily recommended value for calories, total fat, saturated fat and sodium, based on a 2,000-calorie diet.
