NEW YORK — Negotiations between union workers and three major supermarket employers in the New York metro area resumed Monday after the union voted to authorize a strike against the employers over the weekend.

NEW YORK — Negotiations between union workers and three major supermarket employers in the New York metro area resumed Monday after the union voted to authorize a strike against the employers over the weekend.

United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1500 here cited a lack of progress in talks with Stop & Shop, A&P and King Kullen in authorizing a strike. Around 16,000 workers at 150 stores are affected by the contract.
