TOLEDO, Ohio — United Food and Commercial Workers Local 911 said “progress was made” in bargaining with Kroger Co., Cincinnati, over the weekend and that meetings would continue this week. The local had set a deadline of midnight this past Saturday to reach an agreement on a new contract, but the sides have agreed to extend the expired pact on a day-by-day basis, the union said. The previous contract, covering workers at 28 Kroger stores in this area, expired April 7.
