WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Raley's here said Kevin Konkel has been named senior vice president, operations, effective Jan. 1.
He will succeed Bob Abel, who plans to retire, though he will remain with the company in an advisory capacity to assist with special projects on operational logistics, designed to help increase efficiencies and reduce costs.

Konkel, who previously held the title of senior vice president, operations, during 2009 and 2010, has been senior vice president of sales, merchandising, marketing and advertising.
Succeeding him in that position will be Kevin Curry, vice president and general manager of Main Meals at Safeway, who previously headed merchandising and marketing for Raley's between 2004 and 2006.
