Safeway's Burd Earns $7 Million in 2006

PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Steve Burd, chairman, president and chief executive officer, Safeway, received just over $7 million in compensation for 2006, according to a filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission yesterday.

PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Steve Burd, chairman, president and chief executive officer, Safeway, received just over $7 million in compensation for 2006, according to a filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission yesterday. His pay package included $1.33 million in salary, and nearly $2 million in options and $2.64 million in bonuses. Close behind him in total pay was Brian Cornell, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, who earned just of $5 million.
