QUINCY, Mass. — Stop & Shop and five United Food and Commercial Workers locals have agreed to an extra week of contract negotiations, the unions said.
The five locals — United Food and Commercial Workers Locals 328, 371, 919, 1445 and 1459 — represent around 40,000 Stop & Shop workers throughout New England. Their contract with Stop & Shop was to have expired over the weekend.

Negotiations have been complicated by potential impacts of the Affordable Care Act set to take effect next year, the union said.
Negotiations are now scheduled through midnight March 3.
