LUBBOCK, Texas -- United Supermarkets here said it planned to open two of its more upscale Market Street stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in the next one to two years, including one in Frisco near the end of 2007 and another in Allen in 2008. The company, which has 48 stores in northern and western Texas, already operates two Market Street locations in the northern suburbs of Dallas and is eyeing two additional sites in Flower Mound and Plano. The company unveiled a reorganization this week that will involve closing its two Super Mercado locations in Wichita Falls, Texas, and grouping its remaining stores into traditional, specialty and international formats. Its remaining Super Mercado store in Plainview, Texas, along with 14 other stores bearing the United Supermarket banner, will be included in the international division and merchandised for Hispanic consumers.
