Whole Foods Cites Success Expanding in Smaller Markets

AUSTIN, Texas — Whole Foods Market here said last week its decision to open stores in smaller cities is paying off.

As a result, the chain said it has accelerated its new-store expansion program, with 25 stores scheduled to open by the end of this year; between 28 and 32 in fiscal 2013; and between 33 and 38 in fiscal 2014.
