Location in Ohio is set to close over a rental dispute

A Save A Lot store in Hubbard, Ohio, is facing eviction over a dispute about rent with the building owner, reports local affiliate WKBN.

Hubbard Food Stores, which runs the Save A Lot, said McConnell Enterprises LLC claims the grocer owes over $400,000 in rent.

The two sides met for a mediation hearing on March 15, but an agreement could not be reached.

Hubbard Food Store LLC issued a statement on Tuesday saying it had an oral agreement in place about rent with McConnell since a five-year lease ended in 2016.

Roof repairs at the location are also under dispute. The Hubbard Food Stores claims McConnell needs to pay $220,000 for the work, but the owner said the store is responsible.

No official closing date of the location has been set, but McConnell said it hopes to find another grocer to fill the space.

McConnell Enterprises LLC had not responded to a request for comment in time for publication of this story.
