Data breach lowers Target penetration: Study

The data breach Minneapolis-based Target Corp. suffered in mid-December not only impacted comparable store sales but also contributed to declining shopper penetration, according to a study by Kantar Retail ShopperScape, Boston.

The study said 33% of households reported shopping at Target or SuperTarget during January 2014 — a 22% drop from January 2013.
