Disruptors 2016: Deflation

The prolonged stretch of deflating prices under which food retailers have operated for much of this year hasn’t caused but rather exacerbated existing issues facing food retail, even if it’s been a good break for consumers.

“Deflation is what it is. We don’t complain when prices are going up, we can’t complain when prices are going down,” explained Key Food CEO Dean Janeway during the co-op’s annual vendor meeting in October.
