Disruptors 2017: 14 people, ideas and items that are shaping food retail

In a year that saw Amazon’s purchase of Whole Foods Market and German discounter Lidl entering the U.S., retailers are bracing for the coming storm of even more competition. But through competition comes innovation, often in the form of technology, as in meal kit provider Plated, which was acquired by Albertsons, and the use of data collection by Kroger to help in its Restock initiative.
