Walmart store closing in Colorado

Walmart will be closing a Neighborhood Market on June 7 in Aurora, Colo., reports the Denver Post. The reason, however, is conflicting.

The box retailer says the location, which is near the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, did not meet financial expectations, but the Denver Post notes Google and Yelp ratings of the store were poor. According to the Post, Google ratings of grocery stores ranked the Aurora Walmart as the sixth worst in the U.S. while Yelp ratings of the store averaged 2.5 stars.

Employees — a total of 141 — can apply for open positions at other Walmart and Sam’s Club stores during a 90-day paid job search period. If workers fail to land a job in three months, they can receive severance pay.

Walmart has not responded to a request for comment in time for publication.
