Diabetes Control Program Set at Cub Pharmacy

MINNETONKA, Minn. — Supervalu’s Cub Pharmacy is joining UnitedHealth Group’s Diabetes Prevention and Control Alliance, giving customers at 62 Minnesota stores access to a Diabetes Control Program focused on pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes.

Cub Pharmacy will provide patient education and support from trained pharmacists by appointment to help those with diabetes better control their condition and reduce the risk of developing complications, such as cardiovascular, kidney and eye disease. They will also conduct blood glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure testing services for program participants and provide them with on-the-spot results.

“Supervalu is proud to partner with the Diabetes Prevention and Control Alliance to help make an impact on the nation’s diabetes epidemic through equipping and empowering patients to improve their health,” said Chris Dimos, president, of Supervalu Pharmacies, in a statement.

Cub Foods is the latest retailer to bring a diabetes program to customers. Last week, Marsh Supermarkets launched “Eat Right Live Right With Diabetes” for diabetics and pre-diabetics.
