By now, we’re pretty much all aware that it takes a lot of know-how, money and energy to get food and other products on to our supermarket shelves—and that big food and consumer-goods companies have a major impact on the global workforce and the environment. The good news: As more consumers express concern over where their lattes and deodorant come from, more companies are responding, by rethinking their supply chains in ways that are better for their communities–and in many cases, better for their bottom line.
