MONTREAL — Metro Inc. here on Wednesday said net earnings for the fiscal second quarter increased 12.1% to $96.5 million (U.S.) on a 1% increase in same-store sales.
Overall sales of $2.7 billion increased by 3.7%, including a contribution from its newly acquired Adonis and Phoenica businesses of $59.2 million.
The company said it experienced “moderate” inflation during the 12-week quarter, which ended March 10, while customers “remained cautious.”
