Walmart's bold new blueprint

Relying on speed, connectivity and new formats, new CEO Doug McMillon pledges to reinvent Walmart

The world’s largest retailer can no longer be the world’s slowest retailer. That’s the word from Wal-Mart Stores’ newly appointed CEO, Doug McMillon.

Taking the stage at the retailer’s annual meeting for the first time since being named Mike Duke’s successor in February, the 47-year-old McMillon outlined a vision based around combining Walmart’s existing size and strength with emerging technologies to meet customer needs even before they arise.
