Wal-Mart Stores last week opened a new Neighborhood Market store in Myrtle Beach, S.C., using the new prototype design unveiled a year ago near the retailer’s Arkansas headquarters.
With updated signage, polished granite floors, lower counter tops in the deli and bakery for easier ordering, wider aisles and made-to-order pizza, the store is different from many other Walmart Neighborhood Markets, the Bentonville, Ark.-based retailer said. The design, officials noted, would better equip the format to compete against other retailers.
