VP OF CORPORATE BUYING ALDI U.S.

As one of Aldi’s most seasoned and sharpest executives, Joan Kavanaugh oversees corporate responsibility for the entire Batavia, Ill.-based chain, as well as its corporate test kitchen, customer service, quality assurance and several other key buying functions. During her nearly 30-year Aldi career, Kavanaugh has made her way up the ladder in roles of increasing importance and assumed her current role in 2007. Most recently, Kavanaugh has been instrumental in spearheading Aldi’s aspirations to become the third-largest grocer, with more than 2,500 stores by 2022. As it continues to gain clout as a growing competitive force, Kavanaugh is also playing a key role with the retailer’s other audacious plans, including a chainwide commitment to 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging, including plastics, by 2020.
