The joint venture was announced by Ted Leonsis, president of America Online Services Co.; Bruce Maggin, executive vice president of Capital Cities/ABC Multimedia Group, and Patrick McCarthy, executive vice president of editorial for Fairchild Publications. America Online and Capital Cities/ABC will each hold a 50% interest in the venture. The channel, still to be named, is scheduled to debut on America Online early in 1996. It will tap Capital Cities/ABC's vast resources of information and relationships with personalities in the fashion industry through Fairchild Publications. It will enable users to buy on-line and eventually to link to companion sites on the World Wide Web.
