CINCINNATI -- A four-day Web auction is being conducted this week for bids on the costume designs featured in Chiquita Brand's 100th anniversary benefit fashion show, "Designing Miss Chiquita," held earlier this year.

ed designers of all calibers, including Nicole Miller and Betsey Johnson.

By logging on to First Auction, a part of the Internet Shopping Network, visitors can catch a glimpse of these costumes and even make a bid on them. Suggested opening bids start at $9, with all of the proceeds going to the Council of Fashion Designers of America, which supports a number of causes.

During the fashion show, that celebrated the Miss Chiquita character, the famed icon was premiered in a new blue and yellow costume designed by Hollywood costume designer, Katherine Robinson.

The revamped garb replaces the original red and yellow costuming created in 1944 by Dik Browne. Browne was an illustrator known for his popular comic strip, Hagar the Horrible, though his pen was much kinder with Miss Chiquita.
