Ward, Burchfield Promoted

Boston Beer Co. here has promoted George Ward from central division manager to national accounts division manager. The company also named Michele Burchfield director of national accounts.

Ward will oversee national on- and off-premise accounts. He's been with the company since 1996 and became central division manager in January 1999.

Burchfield will oversee all national on-premise business in casual dining, hotels, airports and venues. She has been with the company since 1989 and served as national account manager for hotels since 1999.

Appointments at Mondavi

OAKVILLE, Calif. -- The Robert Mondavi Co. here recently announced several executive changes at the company.

Founder Robert G. Mondavi will become chairman emeritus, remaining on the board of directors and acting as ambassador-at-large while devoting more of his time to the launch of Copia: The American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts.

Chief Operating Officer Gregory M. Evans was named president and chief executive officer and a member of the board. He will maintain responsibility for day-to-day operations.

R. Michael Mondavi, who was appointed president and CEO in 1994, was named chairman of the board. He will assume responsibility for active leadership and management of the board and will continue to serve as the family and company liaison with shareholders, customers and partners.

Also, Timothy J. Mondavi, current managing director and winegrower, will become vice chairman of the board and winegrower. He will oversee vineyard operations.

In addition, Jeff Kasavan has been named director of winemaking, with responsibility for strategic and direct implementation of all facets of the Robert Mondavi Coastal wines. Previously, he served as winemaker at Golden State Vinters in Soledad, Calif.

Heineken Promotes Dadzis, Davis

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Heineken USA has named Peter Dadzis senior vice president of sales and Steve Davis has been promoted to senior vice president of marketing.

Dadzis has worked for Heineken for more than 15 years in the company's offices in Canada, Europe and the Far East. During his tenure he was responsible for managing Heineken's Netherland's equity investment, which included 15 operating companies. Davis has been with the company since the fall of 1995. He was recently named "Marketer of the Year" by Brandweek Magazine, and is credited with revitalizing the marketing behind the Heineken USA brands.
