d, the Internet grocery company here, announced several executive changes last week.

"With these executive changes, we are strengthening the organization to focus on the consumer and our local supply-chain logistics," said Andrew Parkinson, Peapod's chairman and chief executive officer, in a statement.

Timothy Dorgan, executive vice president at Peapod, has resigned to accept a position as senior vice president for the electronic commerce division of a leading retailer of college textbooks.

Michael P. Brennan has been named senior vice president of marketing and product management. Brennan, who has been with Peapod since January 1997, played a "critical role" in marketing the Internet grocer, the retailer said.

George F. Douaire has been appointed senior vice president of Peapod Interactive. Douaire played vital roles in the grocer's creation of its Interactive marketing division, according to the retailer. Douaire, who has been with Peapod since 1995, formerly worked at The Tribune Co., holding positions in marketing and finance.

Robert P. Ziegler has joined Peapod as director of the Internet grocer's Chicago operations. Ziegler comes to Peapod with more than 20 years' experience in the areas of logistics, manufacturing, merchandising and sales. Ziegler, formerly with Jewel Food Stores, helped to launch Peapod's dedicated fulfillment center in Chicago while with Jewel.

"In what has become an increasingly dynamic Internet grocery marketplace, I feel the new organization will enable us to be even more responsive to customers," Parkinson added.
