Stahl told SN sister publication Women's Wear Daily that he would "turn the strategy to growth through great marketing and great partnerships with retailers." Although the brand has been losing market share in some categories, some retailers and distributors told SN that they've been pleased with Revlon's performance. "Mitchum has been doing well, Flex is doing OK and ColorSilk is doing OK," said Stephen Dubin, beauty care category manager, Imperial Distributors, Auburn, Mass. He also said he hasn't had problems with excess Revlon inventory that some retailers have expressed concerns about.

Martin's To Open First Pharmacies In June

WEST BEND, Ind. -- Martin's Super Markets, an 18-unit chain here, has begun construction on its first in-store pharmacies, SN has learned. The chain's first five pharmacies are expected to open for business in June, according to Ken Bruce, nonfood director at the retailer. The size of the pharmacies will vary depending on the store, he said.

Albertson's Expands Combo Format In Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. -- Albertson's began expanding its dual-branded, food-and-drug combo format to this market with a new store that opened here last week. The Albertson's/Osco store, modeled after the Jewel-Osco stores the company operates in Chicago, offers a broader selection of general merchandise and health-and-beauty care items and services, including a drive-through pharmacy, a beautician and one-hour photo processing. The opening follows the November debuts of dual-brand combo stores in Tucson, Ariz., and Reno, Nev., combining Albertson's with either its Osco or Sav-On drug stores.
