WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Lowes Foods here is planning to open a store in South Carolina by next spring, according to local reports. The planned opening in the Stockbridge Commons shopping center in Tega Cay, S.C., is part of Lowes' strategy of targeting the fast-growing areas surrounding Charlotte, N.C., the reports said. A spokeswoman for Lowes, which is owned by Alex-Lee, Hickory, N.C., could not be reached for comment.
