DVD KIOSKS CONTINUE RAPID EXPANSION

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. — Two of the major suppliers of DVD rental kiosks last week reported continued expansion of their programs. Redbox Automated Retail here said it will install its machines in more than 700 new locations this month, including supermarkets and McDonald's. Among the supermarkets are the Acme, Albertsons, Jewel-Osco and Shaw's stores of Supervalu, Eden Prairie, Minn. TNR Entertainment Corp., Houston, reported that it has installed 75 of its The New Release rental kiosks in stores of Publix Super Markets, Lakeland, Fla., during the first quarter, bringing that chain's total to 239. Redbox said it now has 2,900 locations nationwide, while TNR said it has 1,600.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The National Association of Chain Drug Stores last week named Christopher Krese senior vice president of marketing, communications and media relations as part of its effort to “ensure that we are aggressively promoting the value of community pharmacy to the American people, and to the target audiences that impact the image and the success of the industry,” said Steven Anderson, president and chief executive officer. Krese will report to Anderson and brings 14 years of Washington experience, including senior vice president of industry affairs for the American Frozen Food Institute, McLean, Va.
