The local supermarket is becoming the fashionable place to hold a wedding this season.

In Phoenix, one couple tied the knot in the floral department of a Safeway store. The groom is a Safeway employee, and the couple met at the unit two years ago. According to a local news account, the ceremony was complete with shoppers and free wedding cake and flowers. The cake was a three-tier cake, with two two-tiered side cakes.

A source at the unit said it was the first time she had ever heard of a wedding being held in that store. She said several wedding cake orders have come in since then, but she wasn't sure if that was because of local publicity from the wedding.

On a related note, one lucky Dallas couple can win a complete wedding, as long as the event takes place in a gazebo in a Tom Thumb Food & Drugs store on a particular date in October.

The prize includes five tuxedo rentals, four attendant dresses, his and hers 14-karat gold wedding bands, a suite in a local hotel with breakfast in bed, limousine service to and from the hotel, a seven-night/eight-day honeymoon in Jamaica, a $500 shopping spree gift certificate, a queen-size mattress and box-spring, bride and groom wedding cakes, according to the company. A spokeswoman for Tom Thumb said the wedding package is a way to promote all the different wedding services the chain offers.
