SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco Foods here has introduced a line of handmade stuffed pizzas that are available for sale in both the supermarket freezer case and the in-store deli department.
The pizzas are made fresh each day from dough kneaded with honey and virgin olive oil for taste and consistency. The dough is then rolled, hand-stretched and stuffed with natural ingredients, including cheeses, vegetables, meats, sauces and spices. The top layer of dough is applied and hand-pinched shut, and the pizzas are then baked, pan-baked and flash frozen.
The line is available in Five Cheese, Fiesta, Spicy Chicken, Western Chicken, Meat Combo, Pepperoni, Spinach Feta, Supreme and Mushroom Trio varieties. The pizzas have a suggested retail price of between $5.99 and $6.99, depending on the variety.
San Francisco Foods is planning a nationwide sampling program in supermarket deli departments to encourage trial tastings.
