has partnered with Brooklyn, N.Y.-based bakery Bien Cuit to offer bakery items made from grains harvested by farmers in the process of being certified organic.
Bien Cuit created an exclusive rotating seasonal line-up of danishes — maple yam, apple cardamom and pain au raisin — for Whole Foods. The retailer will also sell Bien Cuit’s pugliese and chive bread rolls.
The Bien Cuit products will be available in 32 Whole Foods stores in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York.
“Bien Cuit's beautiful breads and pastries have been a favorite of ours for quite some time,” Elly Truesdell, local forager for Whole Foods Market’s Northeast Region, said in a press release. “Upon learning about the bakery’s support of transitional farmers, it immediately became apparent that we needed to find a way to work together and bring their fantastic products to our stores. It’s amazing to launch a line of products that support both farmers and organic expansion — not to mention, they’re some of the most delicious pastries around!”
