Although precise attendance figures were not yet available, early registration indicated the conference was on target to meet or exceed the 2009 attendance of 1,800.

Ed Crenshaw, chief executive officer, Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix Super Markets, said his company brought 42 employees, from all levels of the organization.

“We feel very positive about Future Connect; it’s a great event,” he told SN.

FMI also said it has scheduled the next Future Connect for May of 2013 in Orlando, Fla.

Next year, the full FMI Show, complete with product exhibit hall, returns to Dallas April 30 to May 3 at the Dallas Convention Center. It had been staged in Las Vegas in 2008 and 2010.
