A-B InBev in Discussions to Acquire Grupo Modelo

LEUVEN, Belgium — Anheuser-Busch InBev confirmed Monday that it is in talks with Corona-maker Grupo Modelo SAB to acquire full ownership of the Mexican brewer of which it presently owns 50%.

The world’s largest brewer, which controls 18% of the world’s beer market according to reports, said that it routinely vets strategic options to create value for its shareholders.

“There have been discussion between the company and Grupo Modelo regarding a possible transaction to expand its current relationship,” stated A-B InBev in a press release. “These discussion may or may not lead to a transaction and any speculation on terms and conditions is therefore premature.”
