SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Price Chopper is offering customers a gift card to Albany‘s Pepsi Arena that can be redeemed for tickets to any event, at concession stands and for merchandise, the companies said late last week. Pepsi Arena, which will be renamed Times Union Center in January, is the first arena in the nation to offer a gift card, according to the companies. Price Chopper also sells event tickets for the arena through a partnership with tickets.com. “Price Chopper is thrilled to be the first supermarket in the nation to sell the first arena gift card in the nation,” said Mona Golub, spokeswoman for Price Chopper. “We value the opportunity to partner with Pepsi Arena/Times Union Center once again, building upon the excellent relationship we‘ve established through tickets.com and countless promotions,” she said. The cards are sponsored by Price Chopper and Citizens Bank, Providence, R.I., in partnership with: the arena; its Philadelphia-based management company, SMG; and Albany County. The cards are available for purchase at the arena box office and select Price Chopper stores.
