America’s Food Basket, a 47-store cooperative based in Lake Success, N.Y., has named David Siegel as its new CEO and Angela Decicco its new VP of merchandising, a spokeswoman said Monday.

Siegel, who most recently was VP of sales and merchandising at Ahold’s Stop & Shop New England division, begins May 22. He succeeds Daniel Cabassa who left to pursue other career opportunities.

Siegel has 30 years of experience in the supermarket industry. Prior to his role at Stop & Shop, Siegel served as an SVP of merchandising and strategy at Marsh Supermarkets and is also a former director of private brands for Price Chopper.

Decicco began at AFB May 1 and was previously director of marketing and merchandising for Associated Supermarkets. Prior to that she was director of marketing technology at distributor White Rose.

America’s Food Basket operates stores under the AFB, America’s Food Basket, Ideal Food Basket and Super Fi Emporium brand names in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. It has opened new locations recently in Lawrence, Mass., and New Britain, Conn., under the America’s Food Basket name; and in Clifton, N.J., under the Ideal Market Place banner.
