Buehler’s Fresh Foods has named Paul Stefaniuk as vice president of operations.
The Wooster, Ohio-based grocer said Stefaniuk, previously vice president of operations at Lidl US, started in the new post effective July 6. He reports directly to Buehler’s President and CEO Dan Shanahan and now oversees store operations and related functions.
Buehler’s noted that Stefaniuk (left) brings more than 15 years of grocery retail industry experience in store operations, mergers and acquisitions and store development.
Most recently, he spent more than five years at Lidl, where he was a member of the leadership team responsible for launching and managing the Germany-based hard discount grocer in the United States. He started at Lidl in 2014 as a director and was appointed as senior director the following year before being promoted to vice president of operations in 2018.
Before that, Stefaniuk served eight years at Aldi U.S. He started at the Germany-based discount grocer in 2006 as a district manager and then was promoted to regional director of operations in 2009.
Overall, Buehler’s operates 13 supermarkets in northeastern Ohio, including stores in Wooster (two), Medina (two), Orrville, Wadsworth, Ashland, New Philadelphia, Dover, Canton, Coshocton, Portage Lakes and Massillon.
The hiring of Stefaniuk marks the second key appointment for Buehler’s in recent months. In late May, the company named Mike Davidson as executive vice president of sales and marketing. He previously served as executive vice president of store operations.
