Goodman Resigns From Save-A-Lot

ST. LOUIS — Save-A-Lot said its chief operating officer, Mark Goodman, resigned late last month to pursue other interests. A spokeswoman for the limited-assortment chain, which is owned by Minneapolis-based Supervalu, did not say whether someone had been named to succeed him. Goodman had been named COO in April of last year. Prior to joining Save-A-Lot, he was executive vice president of marketing, membership and e-commerce for Wal-Mart and Sam's Club, Bentonville, Ark. Before that he was corporate vice president, U.S. strategy and operations, at McDonald's Corp.

GIANT HIRES LAMONTAGNE AS VP

CARLISLE, Pa. — Giant Food Stores here announced last week that it has hired Steve Lamontagne as its new vice president of construction and engineering. Lamontagne will be responsible for store planning and design, construction, engineering, maintenance and energy management. He will report to Gerry Adams, senior vice president for real estate and construction, and will work closely with Thom McIntosh, vice president for construction, who has announced his retirement at the end of the year. Lamontagne was most recently vice president, store planning and formats, and managing director of the Design Services Group at Supervalu, Minneapolis. He has also worked with Albertsons, Shaw's Supermarkets, Grand Union and Almacs Supermarkets.

IGA NAMES NEW MARKETING MANAGER

CHICAGO — IGA USA here said it has named Heidi Huff to the newly created position of manager of retail and marketing programs, with responsibilities for marketing events and other retail programs, including assessments and gift cards. The position was created “to align our organization to better meet current and future needs and opportunities,” Jim Walz, vice president of marketing, branding and business development, said. Huff was formerly operations manager for Building Leaders, a sales training company here. She will report to Walz.
