Joe Kelley, who left his post as president of Stop & Shop’s New England division earlier this year, has joined rival Shaw’s as its VP of marketing and merchandising.
Shaw’s, based in West Bridgewater, Mass., is a division of Albertsons Cos.' NAI division. Kelley said he made the move on a professional networking site. A Shaw’s spokeswoman was not immediately available for comment.
Kelley replaces Paul Gossett, an Albertsons veteran who has been reassigned to head the merchandising and marketing efforts for stores in Texas, according to Food Trade News.
Kelley was appointed president of Ahold’s Stop & Shop-New England, a division of Ahold, in 2012, succeeding Mark McGowan. He previously served as CEO of Marsh Supermarkets, and was also an executive with Price Chopper, A&P, Bozzuto's and Adams Hometown Markets. He is a Massachusetts native who began his career with Purity Supreme.
