Parkinson Sets Retirement as Associated CEO

SALT LAKE CITY — Associated Food Stoes here said Friday that Richard A. Parkinson will retire as president and chief executive office on Nov. 10.

SALT LAKE CITY — Associated Food Stores here said Friday that Richard A. Parkinson will retire as president and chief executive officer on Nov. 10.

He will be succeeded by Neil Berube, executive vice president and president of the wholesaler's Fresh Market division.

Parkinson, 62, has served as Associated president and CEO since 1994. He joined the cooperative in 1984 as director of store development and retail finance and was subsequently named vice president and executive vice president.

He has also served as a board member of Food Marketing Institute and as chairman of Western Family Foods. He is a past chairman of the Retailer Owned Food Distributors Association and of the Utah Food Industry Association.

"I am confident the timing is right for me and for the organization," Parkinson said. "I have a great love for the retail members of Associated Food Stores and have relished the opportunity to contribute to their success."

Parkinson said he is looking forward to spending more time with his wife and family.
